This social studies SmartBoard lesson will get your students excited about comparing life in the past to life today. The lesson includes, a lesson plan, interactive pages (pull tabs), website links (to interactive websites comparing life long ago to life today), discovery video link and 5 student response worksheets. This lesson can be used after my Needs and Wants lesson as it compares some "needs and wants" from long ago to today. This notebook file can be divided into 2-3 lesson periods.

Hello! You will need a piece of software called Smart Notebook. If you do not have a SmartBoard, you probably don't have the software and the file will not open without it.
If my lesson doesn't work for you I hope you will find some other great resources on TPT! Thanks for stopping by my store!
Regards,
Lisa

Hi - just tried to download and am having trouble. It may be me but I do have a smart board and I do have smart board notebook on my computer. It keeps telling me it can't download and will look on the internet to resolve the problem:( which doesn't help. I'll check with my tech crew but meanwhile, if there's a quick fix please advise! Thanks!

Oh that sounds really frustrating!! I just checked it here and it downloaded. However, I am not doing it through the "purchasing" area. If you still have trouble, try clicking "contact us" at the bottom of the page to email TPT tech and see if they have any suggestions. Let me know if it doesn't get resolved and we'll figure it out!!
Regards,
Lisa

Does this not work on a Promethean Board with ActiveInspire software? I bought it and would love to use it, but I can't get it to open on my school laptop because it can't find software to open it. ) :

And now I'm just reading the question below... ) : I should have checked beforehand.

Hi! You are right... I have heard that teachers with other whiteboard software have found ways to convert smart notebook files, but since I only have notebook, I don't know how to advise you. Check to see if there is an option to "convert" the file somewhere in your active inspire software. I think "Jill" below said she had to "import" it. Maybe check for an option to "import". Hope this helps. Thanks for your interest in my lesson. :-) Lisa

Hi! I have heard of other teachers with different interactive whiteboards "converting" notebook files. I suggest that you download one of my FREE smart board lessons (just click my freebie category to see them) and see if there is something in your promethean software the allows you to convert file and open it. ;-) I just have a SmartBoard so I'm not familiar with the other whiteboard software. Also, things may get altered a bit in the conversion... so I'm not sure if the lesson will look and perform the same. Good Luck and thanks for your interest in my lessons! If this doesn't work, I hope you find some great lessons for your promethean board on TPT!!
