This unit enables the identification and quantification of attributes of objects so that they can be compared and ordered. It provides students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of approximation and estimation. Accuracy in estimated measurement is obtained through extensive practice using a variety of units of measure and in a variety of contexts, students develop strategies to select and use the appropriate unit and device to measure any particular attribute.
