Here are 19 pages of structured activities utilizing a fictional reading selection built around the concept of daylight saving time. It is designed to be flexible. There is a selection of materials but you will make your own instructional decisions based on your student type, lesson time frame, classroom setting and skills that you are focusing on. The packet contains vocabulary worksheets, comprehension questions, a literature worksheet and a variety of writing prompts. Modifications and accommodations are listed and built in to the activities. There is a student rating sheet included to use when the packet is complete. The material is written on a 3rd grade level however is presented in such a manner (no juvenile clip art or borders) that you could utilize with lower functioning older students. You may consider using this in a center over a number of days within your classroom. If you are a ESL or Special Education teacher this product will provide you with student work and lessons for approximately a week. It is also useful with remedial or at risk students while providing differentiated instruction.
