This five part unit is designed to engage learners in literature reading (appreciation and comprehension). Students will explore the social consequences of racism, the scientific life-cycle, and the animal nature of humankind. Students are expected to reflect on the deeper meaning behind human behavior, its psychology and sociology. The unit makes an excellent introduction to the writing of quality compare and contrast essays, an assumed skill in high school and college coursework. This unit also provides students with the skills needed to appreciate literature written at higher reading levels for educational and recreational purposes.
