These are two worksheets that ask students to match literary terms to their definitions and create their own examples of literary terms. The worksheets were designed to accompany the "Literary Terms Concentration Game 2" in my store. These worksheets are a part of the game package. They certainly may be used on their own, however, and so they are offered here. These are most suitable for grades 8, 9, and 10. I have used them successfully with my English I Honors classes. Terms practised include: metaphor, simile, hyberbole, image, and symbol. Some story elements are also included, such as setting and theme. The first worksheet provides the students with a list of definitions and a word bank. Students need to match terms and definitions. The second sheet provides students with 5 terms, and students need to create their own example. The second worksheet is a very basic one to create. I include it simply because the terms I chose were successful with my classes and so they may well might be with yours. If so, having this worksheet would save you some time. If you would like them to create examples of different terms, making a new worksheet in the same style would take you very little time. An answer key is provided for the the matching worksheet.
