This resource has been updated and there are now 22 bookmarks!
Most of these bookmarks are meant to be written on and are a great way to get motivate hard-to-reach students to respond to literature. Completing several bite-sized bookmarks may be more appealing to many students than doing a worksheet.
You could use several together or one type repeatedly. One option is to assign a specific number of bookmarks, but let the students choose which ones they want to complete. They are also great for more casual reading, when you want some accountability but are not doing a full-on unit.
Students can fill in the blanks as they find the appropriate information in the book. Students can use the backs for their names and extra information.
You may want to use the "I Read Ten Books" book mark as a reward. There are also three fun book marks, each with a great kid-friendly quote about reading that could be used for rewards or just for fun.
These will print out great in color, but will also work fine in grayscale. There are four of the same book mark to a page with guidelines for easy cutting - since the whole page is used, just 3 cuts is all you need, with no wasted paper.

Help

My passion is creating high quality, ready-to-use teaching resources. I believe our future depends on our children being able to think creatively and critically, so I incorporate higher level thinking skills into almost everything I create.
Most of my experience is in gifted education grades 1-4. But I have also taught regular education to all elementary grade levels. I've taught workshops on writing and have had extensive experience teaching elementary science as well as technology.
I have also written a series of 6 creative and critical thinking books for Evan-Moor as well as several other books of teacher materials.
In addition, I am a published author of over 100 nonfiction books for children on a variety of subjects.
You can see the books I've written here:

I am also the author of several blogs:
Minds in Bloom
(FacilitatingCreative and Critical Thinking Skills)
"Quotes" for Teachers
(An organized collection of quotes to use in your classroom)
I am also an administrator on:
"Tchr2Tchr
(Articles, contests, and Linky Parties from TpT sellers)
And of course there is also Facebook and Twitter
