Help your students become acquainted with how the reading strategy of predicting works with the Literature Circles: Lesson on the Reading Strategy of Predicting. This lesson is great for literature circles, English/Language Arts/Reading class, and reading in the content areas.
Page 1 includes the lesson outline. Page 2 includes the Warm-Up chart, and Page 3 shows possible responses for the Warm-Up chart. Page 4 includes the Guided Notes (cloze-style, where students fill in key words and phrases that are underlined on the displayed notes page) that can be printed onto a transparency for projecting or distributed as a handout, and Page 5 includes the student notes sheet with blanks on it so that students can fill in key words as you go through the notes. Pages 6, 7, and 8 includes the Practice Activity, which is a short reading passage followed by a practice Thinkmark on Predicting. Page 9 includes possible responses for the practice Thinkmark. Page 10 includes four blank Thinkmarks on Predicting, ready for students to use with their own novels.
