Little Monster Money Match Tiered Math Tub for grades 1st-3rd! The activities in this packet are designed to help students recognize coins and their values, count mixed sets of coins and make change from bills. Second grade Common Core Standards state that students will learn to solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately (2.MD.8). This math tub is tiered according to levels of difficulty with money. The pretest determines which tiered activity each student should complete based on individual student levels.
Tier 1 is designed based on coin recognition and counting mixed sets of coins.
Tier 2 is based on solving word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols.
Tier 3 is based on word problems and making change from dollar bills up to $5.00.
With this packet you will receive 30 pages that include an essential question poster, a math tub pretest to determine individual student levels, a math tub task card, teaching instructions, three sets of ready to cut and use differentiated activity cards, and student recording forms to use as student answer sheets.
