This Little Monsters Pattern Challenge Center is for use in the Pre-K -2nd grade classroom. It can be used for timed challenges, pattern practice, whole class instruction and small center pattern work. Each mat contains a 7x7 grid, the first several cells are the original pattern the students are to complete, throughout the mat are random images to help the students complete each mat successfully.
Included in this file are:
40 challenge mats:
5 each of the following patterns all containing a variety of 15 different monsters
Blank (to make your own or to challenge the students further)
6 sheets of extra monster images to complete the mats.
The best way I have found to use and store this center is to print it out on cardstock in color and laminate, then store the appropriate number of extra monster images in a snack baggie and paperclip it to the mat. These mats can also be made into fil folder ccenters. This allows you to use it over and over in a variety of ways. I have also used this in black and white because the monsters are shaped differently enough. This is also a great tool for assessing patterning level of students for portfolios. Good quiet seat work as well.
I hope you enjoy, please consider looking at my other pattern centers, leave feedback and follow me for more math, reading and learning for the classroom.
