This includes 48 picture cards - 24 non living things and 24 living things picture cards. The pictures used are real-life pictures and all pictures come with and without labels. I use these cards during our life science unit, "Living and Non Living Things."
Print, laminate and cut out the cards for durability.
Some ideas for using these cards include:
-As an introduction to the unit. Mix up the cards, pass one card out to each student and tell them to sort themselves by living and non living things. After they sort themselves, we sit together on the rug and have a discussion about what made the objects living or non living things.
-After watching the PowerPoint, "Living and Non Living Things" (also for sale in my store), groups of students can sort the cards by living and non living things and fill out the recording sheet.
Two recording sheets are included. One has students drawing pictures of 3 living things and 3 non living things. The other includes 20 words from the picture cards. Students must determine if the word is a living or non living thing and put the words in ABC order in the correct column.
-They can be put into the Science Center. I've also included "Living Things" and "Non Living Things" signs for them to sort them under.
The cards can be used in a variety of ways depending on the level and needs of your students. My kids love looking at the real pictures!
The "Living and Non Living Things" PowerPoint available in my TpT store goes perfectly with this activity! Check out the link:
