This Long E Kids packet is perfect for teaching long a spelling patterns {ee, ea, ey, ie, & y}. This packet includes five Long E Kids characters and stories {similar to those in my Digraph Kids/Long A Kids packets}. In addition to the Long E Kids characters & stories, this packet includes:

I love this! It's a fantastic resource for teaching long vowels! One question, though: I was wondering whether it would be possible to have an alternate Chief Charlie (possibly a fire chief?) in the future. I teach mainly native children and Chief Charlie could be interpreted as me being insensitive to aboriginal culture.

Wonderful tool to instruct students on the different ways the long e sound is made in our language. The students love the visual characters and the games can be used in centers to practice the skill and reinforce learning.

Hi. I bought both of your long vowel packs. I noticed that in the Long e packs, there are a lot of references to /ay/, /ai/ and /a_e/. Just an FYI...I had to white out these letter combos on the sorting pages. Great activities though!!!! :)

Do all the activities cover all the spellings at the same time? I use HM Excursions and the long /e/ patterns are taught different weeks and not necessarily grouped in a sequence of weeks. By the time we get to a review of all the spellings the school year is almost gone.

Not ALL at the same time. I tried to group them differently...I have some activities where the /ee/ & the /ea/ are grouped together. Then some where the /y/, /ie/, & /ey/ are grouped together. THEN, I have several where ALL the sounds are grouped together. I don't teach them all at the same time either!!
