This packet describes my unique approach to getting my students interested in the words in our room. It explains how I use my Word Wall, my weekly Word Study words and my Word Family Wall in my 1st grade classroom.
I love this idea!! One of my favorite parts of 1st grade is how they totally play along with stuff like this. I've been struggling to make my word wall meaningful for years so I can't wait to try this. Thank you for sharing!

You are so on target. I will use this. My kiddo's also love letters hidden in the room to spell one of our words. The letters are the words friends and they like to play hide and seek.

Randi, I love how you think! We think the same way. I often talk to my SMART Board, pencils, etc. :)

Very cute idea! I love it so much I think I will try this tomorrow with out new sight word and also a few that we just cant seem to spell correctly! wint, wuz, frend,
LOL! I'm glad I'm not alone. I will pretty much do anything to keep them engaged. My favorite thing is food!!! If they are not engaged then beyond that, what you are doing really doesn't matter.

Very creative! Sometimes teachers have to act silly to get the kids attention. They love it and we have just as much fun! Great connection to the word families. Thanks!
