This is a literacy workstation partner game.
It is also part of a bundle of workstation games called March Themed Workstations available at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/March-Themed-Math-and-Literacy-Workstations

Directions:
Make two copies of the game board and laminate each. Construct the die.
Each partner will need a game board and a dry erase marker.
Partners take turns rolling the die. If they can make a word using the letter they rolled, they write it on their game board. Play passes to next player. If the child is unable to make a word, play still passes to the next person. The first player to complete their board is the winner.

There is also a student response sheet. The student may choose 4 words from their game board, write it on the response sheet, and draw a picture of it.

Common Core Standards:

RF.1.2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

RF.2.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach a k-5 self-contained classroom for children with special needs. It's very much like the old one room schoolhouse. I taught a resource classroom from 1999-2004. I've been in my one room schoolhouse since 2004. I am privileged to teach in an arts integrated, Title I school. We use the arts to teach the core academic standards.
