Oh my word! I have no idea why this happens to some...there is a tutorial on my blog under FAQ that has helped many (http://mrsminersmonkeybusiness.com), otherwise we are told to direct you to tech crew at tpt! I am sure you wanted this for today and the only other thing you can do is to send me your email address and I can send you the file from my computer at lunchtime as I am in grad class all day. I am crossing my fingers for you, I really hope this problem gets figured out at TpT, I understand how frustrating it is. I'll ck back at lunchtime. So sorry! Krissy

I am really hoping you figured out what to do to get this to print because I never got notified of your question that's been sitting here and only saw it when I got another one today...sooooo sorry. This won't help you now, but you can always email me directly with questions too! krissyldavis@hotmail.com
here are some directions that may help or send me your email address and i will ck for it at lunchtime and send it via email (not sure if that will work either though-it has something to do with versions of different programs and usually on macs)
Dear Customer, You can find a tutorial on my blog (http://mrsminersmonkeybusiness.com ) under the FAQ tab that has helped many people with this same issue. If that doesn't help, TpT sellers are asked to direct customers with any technical problems to them. So, if the tutorial doesn't help, you can email them. Thank you and I am sorry for your inconvenience. Krissy Miner

I often have problems with the items you create not wanting to print for me. I get a message from Adobe saying no pages have been selected etc. You are the only seller I ever run in to this problem with. I usually tinker around with Print Preview etc and can get it to print but then the margins are messed up. Any ideas?

I absolutely loved this unit and my kids had soooo much fun doing it!! My cups, however, did not look anything like hats coming out! haha I'm wondering if it's because I had to keep opening the oven door, as I don't have a window. I've decided that I am just going to blame it on Thing One and Thing Two messing with the leprechauns magic! lol They will love it all the more! I would love to be able to add it to the letter that the leprechaun leaves. Do you have an editable copy of the letter or do you want us to use it only as is? Thank you!!

Hello, Having so many people do this activity, I've learned a couple of things: the ridged styrofoam cups work best, the large cups work, but not as well, and it could take up to 20 minutes for the cups to shrink right! I couldn't believe it! I guess there are a lot of variables and possibly having to open the oven would be one?? Not sure about that though! Shoot me your email and I'll share the letter so you can edit it! In fact, I am thinking of adding that kind of letter to the kit when I have time so that people whose projects fail have something to turn to! krissyldavis@hotmail.com

Help...my cups didn't shrink in the oven...they just collapsed. I am not sure what I did wrong. Any ideas/tips.
Thank you!

What I am starting to wonder is if you need to have the styrofoam cups with the ridges. Did you use those? If you did, then I am not sure what the problem was. I have done this for years with various brands of cups and never had a problem. ??? Let me know because I would love to be able to give people more info in regards to what works and what doesn't, etc...I've just never had any problems doing it! Sorry!

Already bought the unit but after at least 60 cups-2 different kinds-I have had 2 turn out like the image on the activity. I'm not sure what to attribute it to because I've tried changing temps, cups, baking sheets, and markers. Now I'm writing a letter from Lucky explaining how he got too busy and left Lucky Charms cereal bars as a peace offering! Maybe next year I'll figure it out :-P

I can't even imagine why!!?? I have bought different kinds of cups every year (just getting the cheapest, wherever I am at) and have never had a problem. Did they shrink at all? Did you leave them in for a long period of time? Iknow someone had to leave them in for 10 minutes, but they did eventually shrink. That is so disappointing! I wish I had more answers for you??!!

I found the post about the hats on your blog. I wanted to practice with a few hats before I purchased your unit with the letter, etc. I tried with 2 different brand cups, but neither seemed to work all that well for me. One did shrink to a great size, but got pretty bent up. The other stopped shrinking and never got small enough. I was using a dark cookie sheet at 250 degrees. I am extremely interested in purshasing this unit and completing this activity tomorrow, but was hoping you could tell me the brand of cups you used and possibly even the size of cup in case that makes a difference. Thanks!

Hello! I use the small styrofoam cups (6 ounces maybe??)and I have used all kinds of brands--usually the cheapest, store brand that I can find. You might have to play with your oven a bit to figure out what works well. You might have to turn it up to 300. I did some last night at 300 for 2 minutes and it worked fine. They will eventually shrink...if it is taking that long, I would turn up the oven. Good luck!

My school and I only own Macs. I have tried several different ways to print and nothing is printing. I don't know what to do. I loved you ideas so much when I found it that I bought your unit right away. I have tried everything to get it to print. Do you have any suggestions. I am planning to do this activity on Friday. Please, let me know. I don't have a PC and none of my family or friends own a PC.

I must not be very good at being a sneaky leprechaun - I tried shrinking some sample styrofoam cups but after 10 minutes at 250 degrees barely anything happened. I noticed you mentioned using a dark pan and I was using a silver baking sheet - I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Just wondering if you have any advice for getting the trick to work. Thanks!

Yes, definitely use a dark pan! Hopefully the leprechauns will be in your corner this time! Good thing you tried it before doing it with the kiddos! Good luck!!

Hello there! When I saw the shrinking hat activity I was beyond excited! I just had to share your unit with my team of 4 grade one teachers. Instead of being excited they were all incredibly concerned! They explained that styrofoam cannot be heated as it emits dangerous toxins and can spontaneously catch fire! So here is my question, do you use a special kind of cup or just use plain old styrofoam cups? I would really love to try your activity but I am really nervous now. Thank you for all that you do!

Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business
You know, I looked all over the internet for info about this. It is all about the toxins getting into your food when styrofoam melts. I am thinking with the small scale of melting going on that it will be okay. I've never had one catch fire, I can say that. I guess people just need to use their best judgement, do it with caution, and watch carefully. thanks for the concern.
