SCRAPBOOKING IS ALL THE RAGE. This is a must or at least hopefully a want for every classroom at just about any grade/age level. If you're looking for a really fun way to get family members involved in their children's schoolwork, this is a great place to begin. At Back to School Night or Open House, present parents/guardians with this list of monthly scrapbook activities. Try to encourage each student to purchase their own scrapbooks or put them on your supply list or you could even ask for help from your Home & School(PTA) to purchase these for every student. Students and family members will just love the finished product. You could even have a "Scrapbook" event when students/family members work on pages together right at school. Make sure that you have lots of different kinds of 12 X 12 squares as well as fancy cutting scissors and watch the creative juices flow. This will become a keepsake for so many years to come. Hopefully it will encourage students to keep them up an will also encourage parent involvement in other areas of school.

Help
I have taught for 36 years at the 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade levels. Fifth grade is my first love. I teach all major subject areas. In addition to my regular classroom duties, I have taught in a Basic Skills summer school program for many years as well as taught workshops to co-workers in whole language and technology. My other duties at school include being "Teacher in Charge" and Student Council advisor.
