This overhead note teaches students the definition, history, and conventions of tragedy as well and the eight rules that all tragic heroes follow. I use this overhead at the beginning of the Macbeth unit, and at the end, I have students pair up and prove that Macbeth does fit the definition of a tragic hero according to the rules on this overhead.
