Embark on a reading adventure with Jack and Annie and the Magic Tree House as they travel back to the 19th century and explore Ireland. This is an activity pack that can be printed off as a packet for students to organize information collected while they read Magic Tree House #43 Merlin Mission: Leprechauns in Late Winter and the accompanying research guide, Leprechauns and Irish Folklore. This pack includes activities for students to assess and build background knowledge with the use of K-W-L charts. Students can also track new vocabulary and Irish words and create their own personal word wall while completing the "Irish Alphaboxes" sheets. Eligible content and literary terms, such as alliteration, simile, fact and opinion are also highlighted as students search the text for examples while they are reading. A reader's response section asks the reader to take on the role of Jack or Annie and summarize each chapter and the highlighted adventure. Finally, students will complete their reading by completion of a story map. All pages are Irish and St. Patrick's Day themed so that they can be used with any St. Patrick's Day text.
