This literature unit is designed to improve reading comprehension skills including recalling details, ordering events, comparing characters, predicting outcomes, and drawing conclusions.
If you haven’t yet met Jack and Annie and traveled with them through time and space via their Magic Treehouse, then you’ve missed out on a fact based series of science fiction adventures written by Mary Pope Osborne for first through fourth grade students. This unit consists of 16 worksheets. Each chapter in the book is preceded by a worksheet that introduces new vocabulary words and then asks the reader questions that will help them predict what might happen in that chapter. Each chapter is followed by a page of questions specific to it. At the end of the unit students are asked to use a flow chart to summarize the important events that occurred and compare Annie and Jack’s character traits. This unit makes reading The Knight at Dawn an educational and enjoyable activity!
