I created this worksheet to accompany Lakeshore's Reading Comprehension Activity Centers. It goes with the story elements activity about Icebergs. Students will be able to identify and note the events in the short passage. They will answer questions about the passage to test their understanding. I have my students work in their center group. They read the story twice together and then take turns sorting the information into the pocket chart. Then they answer the questions on the worksheet. It takes them about 30 mins. (Third grade). There is also an "essay" question similar to the NYS ELA (3rd) where they have to provide support for their answers using details from the text. I have included both the questions and the answers. I just purchased your main idea - icebergs lesson. It did not include the article which it refers to, how can I get the article in order to use the lesson?

The activity is an extension for people who have Lakeshore's Reading Comprehension centers. The centers are not long enough for districts like mine that have 40 minute blocks so I created an activity to use if you have the center. If you don't have the center, I can see if there is a way to give you your money back. They are great centers though if you are interested in buying them from Lakeshore-just not long enough on their own for my 40 min. block with 3rd graders. www.lakeshorelearning.com product EE380X. Pricey, but last almost the whole year if done once a week.
