This powerpoint helps to teach students to identify the main idea and details in a text, as well as summarize what they've read using the GIST strategy. Includes definitions and examples.
Originally developed for use in my ESL Language Arts classroom, this powerpoint can assist any student in mastering main idea and learning to summarize.

I know which presentation you were referring to, and the method for downloading and saving is the same for all files. When you click the file to download it, instead of choosing the option to "open file" choose "save file". A box will then pop up asking you to choose the location you would like to save it to. Select your flash drive, name it as you please, and click "save". If this does not work, please try one of the other suggestions below.

As I read below, I see that others have had similar issues. I was able to open the ppt as a read-only, but I am not able to save it. Is there a way to save it to my flash drive?

When you download the file from TpT, instead of clicking "open with", click "save file" and choose your flash drive as the location. It should save to your flash drive just fine. If that doesn't work, you can also open the folder where you originally saved it, copy the file, and paste it into a folder on your flash drive. The only thing the password does is keep you from saving it from INSIDE the presentation, it does not affect how or where you can store the file.

Before coming to Maryland, where I currently teach grades K-5, focusing mostly on 2nd and 4th, I was in North Carolina teaching ESL Language Arts primarily to grades 6-8. While working on my MS in ESL Education at the University of Tennessee, I did student teaching with grades K-8 in Sevierville, TN. I have also been invited to Busan, S. Korea, twice to conduct 2 week teacher training seminars on Content Based English Instruction for English language learners, and I am SIOP trained as well. In addition to my MS, I also have a degree in Spanish and Mass Communications.
