Just purchased this activity and I can not open the file. What type of program do I need to have to open the documents?

Just wanted to add that my students loved this activity. With a lot of frustration (because I ama bit of a perfectionist), I converted your packet into a one page foldable that would fit in our language arts interactive notebooks. I would be more than happy to share it with you if you are interested.

Hi there
I love your products and very successfully used the Angry Birds lesson. I purchased the Monster program and loved the planning and layout however, our monsters were a disaster. We used the playdough you suggested and the children also places them in the heart template supplied. However, they cracked and fell off the frames. Has anyone else had this problem, if so what have they suggested as an alternative (the dough does not work). I am curious to hear. (These are fifth graders, so they are very capable of manipulating the tools etc).

Were they really thin? Most of my kiddos made very thick, 3d monsters so they held together well. Fray la model magic could work, it holds together well but is more expensive. You could also make your own dough. The best recipe I have found is 2 3/4 cup of flour, 1 cup of salt, 4 tblsp. Of vegetable oil, and 1 cup of water. Add food coloring as needed, it will be a cream color. I have made plant cells out of this homemade dough that were flat and they did not crack at all. Good luck, hope it works for you on the next try!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for 16 years in a large, urban, public school district (I have taught in three different schools) and I LOVE it! I taught self-contained, multi-age gifted class for past seven years. Prior to this assignment, I taught regular ed 4th and 5th grades. I am now in an at-risk school teaching 5th grade! I am so lucky to have such great students, past and present!
