By using African American history as a base, students were able to learn how to create timelines by working as a class to make a collaborative, teacher guided example. Students then were able to create their own examples for their African American Hero Projects and later in the year even created timelines for lives of people the know, including themselves.

Subject Area:
I have had experience in K-5 grade, but have taught 5th grade for two years. I am teaching at an alternative/magnet program where we provide an electives program for 1st through 5th grade, and because of this, I teach classes with all grades mixed together in the afternoons.
