This lesson discusses the role of John Marshall in aiding the development of the U.S. court system in the court case of William Marbury vs. James Madison. In the end, Marshall established the concept of judicial review. The lesson starts with a 3 paragraph summary of events followed by several independent/class discussion questions. The second part of the lesson is a 4-page skit that allows six students to role play this landmark court case.
