One way to get students to use more complex sentences when writing and make sure they grasp the concept of who, what, when, where, why, or how is to teach them to write SUPER SENTENCES.
Begin by developing super sentences as a whole group. Once students have had several opportunities to practice with you, move on to small group or partners. You may even want to make it a competition to see which group can craft the most creative and grammatically correct SUPER sentence. You will be surprised how quickly they ALL catch on and are ready to write their very own complex super sentences.
I created this 37 page Super Sentence pack based on March themes to help you do just that! Themes include: St. Patrick's Day, Read Across America, Spring, Plants and Insects, Going to the Dentist and Doctor, Theme Park, Auto Racing, Basketball and More.
This is a great resource to help kiddos write better. Thanks for making such a cute resource!

My daughter is in first grade. She has to write three sentences each evening for homework. She loves to pick out three of your Super Sentences (from the appropriate month) and write them! Thank you! I have tried to buy each month...
This has helped my students write stronger sentences!

My daughter and I enjoyed using these forms. They helped her to write more complex sentences. She's just learning to include more details in her writing.

I hate to bother you with this, and it could be my problem, but when I print some of the pages off there is a big black square right above the my super sentence. I thought if I download again it might fix the problem, but that didn't help. Any suggestions.
I am so sorry! One other teacher complained about the same thing. I am trying to figure out what the issue was as they printed perfectly for me and everyone else - as far as I know. I would love to send you the April ones for FREE- as the teacher who had problems with the March set had no issue with the April set. Please send your email to me at dcandau@sbcglobal.net or repond with the email address to this post and I will send you the April sentences and follow up with the March fix as soon as I figure out what the issue was.
Hello,
I am sorry. I am not sure why I didn't receive your responses. I helped another seller with an error and she was able to contact me. I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me with the file. My e-mail address is kyesbng@cox.net.

Hello,
Did you ever find out why there were black rectangles randomly placed on the super sentence writing pages? I don't want to waste my ink to try to print again. I would really like to use them and love this idea. Please let me know ASAP.
Sincerely,
Beth Kyes
Lisbeth,
No one else has seemed to have this problem and it prints perfectly for me. I would be happy to re-email the file to you as well as a freebie for your troubles. Just send me your email address. It may be that you need to update your version of Adobe acrobat reader - which is free ... the other problem could be that you hit print before the entire file had downloaded properly.
Hello,
When I printed the first two super sentences writing pages from March Super Sentences, there was a filled black rectangle on each page. I did not try to print any more sentences.
Sincerely,
Beth Kyes
