Multiplication is a fun concept to learn and it is especially fun when it involves a marshmallows and hot cocoa! These multiplication problems allow students to solve for the total number or marshmallows they would need when drinking hot chocolate with their friends! To make math even more fun, buy a couple bags of marshmallows for students to use while problem solving (Idea...Look for snowmen marshmallows).
These problems not only help to make multiplication a concrete concept, they can foster strategy development depending upon the numbers chosen for each problem. To help with differentiation and strategy development, I included copies of the problems page with the number areas blank so you can modify as needed.

My co-worker found this and I bought it too so that I could have the digital copy saved here. The students love it and it's very hands-on, so it's great for all levels. I love the fact that there are so many different activities. It can stay in a center rotation for a week and still apply to all learners.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a teacher in my mind for as long as I can remember! So many times, I fought with my sister and her friends to listen to me teach little lessons and grade fake papers. "School" was my favorite thing to play! Now I get to play real school everyday! I have been a "real" teacher for four years. My second home is in a bright, colorful third-grade classroom in Iowa full of bright, colorful little learners.
