I have written many plays on 'Heroes' - I have several collections of such people (male and female)on my website www.plays-r-ussell.com But no collection would be complete without Martin Luther King. He was a truly inspirational man - so selfless and dedicated to his cause. I have written on MLK before (I mention this script for 6 speakers in my preview) but in researching this play, I was amazed at how much more there was to learn about his life. It is a fascinating story and I feel privileged to have been able to undertake the writing of such a play - the material I was working with reduced me to tears on many occasions. Doubtless, I will return to this subject and write many more plays in the future - but for now, I hope teachers and educators will be able to use this resource with their children.

I taught in the U.K. for 15 years - temporary and permanent positions plus supply/substitute teaching. I taught all year groups at primary/elementary level and have done some substitute teaching since arriving in the USA. My degree was in History so I always particularly enjoyed teaching this subject, and creating class plays/assemblies around what I was teaching in the classroom - whether it be Ancient Egyptians or King Henry VIII and his Six Wives!
