This math calendar wall packet contains activities for a bulletin board to be used as part of calendar time in a primary classroom. The activities focus on developing fluency with common math concepts in the areas of number sense and place value. These activities go beyond the regular calendar skills of days of the week and months of the year. This packet focuses on the following skills: date, days of the week, days of school, yesterday/today/tomorrow, time, writing numbers in different forms (standard, written, expanded, and picture),daily equations with fact families, even and odd, daily tally, and my personal favorite, an interactive place value chart to practice expanded form. It works like a charm!
By looking at the "Number of the Day" in a variety of ways, students are able to think conceptually about numbers. By spending ten minutes every day reviewing these skills, your students will master the difficult and abstract concepts of place value and be able to describe numbers in different forms.

Hi Cece
I have been searching for ideas regarding maths calanders and was excited to find yours - so thank you!! I am about to start my first year teaching and have year 2, which I am looking forward to. I do have one question about your calander... How did you set it up? You don't happen to have a photo of it in use that you would be happy to email me just so that I can fully grasp how you used it? Sorry, just trying to set up my classroom, I have allocated a noticeboard for maths and just feeling slightly overwhelmed at the whole process!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Kind regards
Alison
