Math Camp-In is an exciting way to bring mathematics to your classroom or building!
During a Math Camp-In students hike to math "trail posts" (stations), complete rich mathematical tasks and record ideas in their Camp Journal. You can use Math Camp-In as a day-long program, a mini-unit in the regular classroom, or as a Family Math Night.
The download includes the full version of the Educator Trail Guide, student journal that can be copied for each camper, badges for each trail post station that are given when students complete the problem, and other printable materials you will need.
Trail Post Stations include: Picnic Scene; Finding Footprints; Bug, Bug, Snake; Just in Time; The Old Camp Store; Camp Snapshots; and Caught You!

That's actually a great idea that we hadn't even thought of yet! Maybe it would be a good idea to combine all grade levels into one download in case someone was doing a whole school event, or like you wanted to tailor it to meet their needs. Thanks for the input and we will definitely try to pull that together.

Trail Post 5, Building Butterflies activity still doesn't (please reference question from May 29, 2012 below) match up to the journal pages which are for The Old Camp Store, pages 37-38. Will you please update the files on TPT? If possible, it would be great to have both Beautiful Butterflies and The Old Camp Store to better differentiate the activity.

I noticed that your camp kit has a list of items included. Certain items such as jumping bugs, stickers, sorting cards are listed but obviously won't be included since the purchase is a download. Do you include a list of places where these items can be obtained?
Also, I will be using these kits for a Family Math Night for Grades 1-5. How do you recommed using your kits to address the various grade levels? Should I purchase all of the grade level kits and then combine the various levels of activities? Looking at it from an entire school's perspective, it seems overwhelming. I'd appreciate your ideas about how to simplify it --yet still have age appropriate activities.

Thanks for the question--we get most of the items you mentioned from Oriental Trading Company. If you just do a search for "camp" there are some great pieces to work with. I will also try to get you the item numbers in case that helps. If you want, we also do a Camp in a Box with some of the materials...which I should think about putting on TpT too! :-)
As for the grade levels, we have worked with buildings that have done the same kind of idea. Sometimes, you can have rooms dedicated to specific grade level. The grades 1/2 Camp In would be appropriate for either grade, especially if there is parent support. Same for 3-5--you could use the 3/4 Camp In for those grades. You could also do what you might have been thinking and combine various levels for the night--especially if they have support. The great thing is that they all model rich problem solving and questioning, so if that might be the focus for the Family Night, that would be good. I purchased the grade 1 camp in and I don't see the stickers mentioned for trail post 1 or the bugs for the mason jar in the download yet the materials sheet says they are provided in the download. Could you possibly send me the missing parts?

I'd be happy to send them--I will also update the lesson again on the TpT in case they didn't load for some reason. Do you want me to send them by email? The stickers we just usually purchased some bug stickers and let the kids use those--or, you can just have them draw a scene to use for the problem. I have a feeling the lesson didn't update--there should be a page that tells about some of the different options you can use too.

My school ordered math camp in grade 1 and the 5th activity does not match up with the journal. One is about butterflies and the other camp store. Am I missing something? Is there a way to email us the matching one?
