Are you interested in a new way to teach math? Do you love your reading block time where your students are able to choose their activity? Would you like to differentiate your lessons while the other students are working on meaningful activites? WELL, this is for YOU! :)

Since implementing Daily 5 into my classroom, I wanted the same idea for my math time. I took the basic concept and created something that works for me! I have three groups and activities for the groups including: "Math with Teacher" "Math with Someone" and "Math by Myself." I have ended each math session feeling like I have truly met the needs of my students!

This bundle has:
-Posters to create an interactive bulletin board
-A template to type math game names
-4 printable and easy to create math games
-Pictues to aide in the creation of your own math bulletin board
-Detailed instructions on how to start your own Math Daily 3!

**All of this is in Power Point so that you can change it to fit your classroom style!

I have been so PLEASED with how my math program has run this year that I am eager to share this with you! My math scores have also significantly improved!

Hi Tori!

I have been wanting to change my math program over the past couple years, but have been struggling with the short time I have already. I LOVE my reader's workshop time and would LOVE to have math similar. However, I am unsure how much time you have math each day? Also, do you teach the main focus for the week on Monday and then the centers are around that? Just curious! With the common core now I really feel I need to do something so they are meeting all concepts in a interactive way! If you could let me know how much time you allow and sort of a short summary of it, I would appreciate it! I am very interested! :)

Thanks so much!

Hi Jenna! GREAT question!! My district just bumped our math time up to 60 minutes a day and I'm excited that I have MORE time! Math is SO important and sometimes can get overlooked by reading/ELA. In the past I was working with about 35-45 minutes daily of math. However, I think you can make Math Daily 3 work with any time limit. Here's all you really need. I do a 8-10 minute focus lesson EVERY DAY (and honestly, I don't do D3 Math every single day either-- you need to do what works for your lesson/unit). After the focus lesson then we break up into groups that can last as long as you want... generally 15-20 minutes. Now you can stop there or if you have more time you can switch groups again. The nice thing about this is you have major flexibility. This just makes it easier to get to all your students on a more personal level while the other students are doing meaning ful activities!! I hope this helps a bit and PLEASE continue to ask questions if you have more!!! Thanks so much for your interest!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 13th year teaching. Wow, where did the time go? I have taught 7 years in first grade and I am currently on my 6th year in second grade. Which do I like better you ask? I have reasons to love them both! I think first grade made me the teacher I am today. My heart is in second though. I am lucky to work in a wonderful school with wonderful students!
