This pdf contains examples of misleading and incorrect math statements. The statements appeared in newspaper articles, on road signs, picture captions, classified ads, etc. I found these pictures online on various sites. I have used these pictures with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, but they would be appropriate all
the way up through high school and even college. Many of the concepts referred to would be appropriate for elementary students as well. Fractions, data analysis, unit analysis, measuring tools, unit pricing, and place value are some of the topics involved. It is a great review activity for the end of the year or an introductory activity for the beginning of the year.
