I think this is fantastic. Goes perfectly with our District's newly adopted CGI program, but saves me a ton of work!I have a question, any way I can get black line(not colored) monthly covers? I'd like to print out a cover for each student every month but on xerox, not color printer. That way they can color it!

LOVE THESE and I thank you SOOOO much for making a section of my life a little easier! The kids are going to love these and I love the fact that not only do we have something to do that is fun, exciting and can hold a classroom discussion, but they are standards aligned and will last the whole year! Can you explain your routine with your journal prompts? I teach math in a 90 minute block and am having some issues with the time frame along with teaching everything else that needs to fit. I feel the prompts are very beneficial but also the answers need to be explained whole group. Do you complete one per day and explain it the same day or complete and then explain the next day? Thanks!!! =)

Thank you! This is a great question. This year I am doing math tubs from 7:30-8:00 and whole group math until 8:45. It allows me time to get the kids cleaned up from tubs, go over the problem of the day ticket/prompt (which is usually the kick off to my whole group math lesson) and transition into a whole group math activity. My students come to the Smartboard to "show what they know" from their journal prompts. Yes...it is very beneficial to do this. Having my kiddos explain their thinking is the key. I do use a prompt each day, but you could do one every other day and leave the day in between open for further discussion of their thinking. I think you need to do what works best for you and your students. The prompts will not be as effective if your students don't get the chance to explain their thinking (either in a conference with you or with the class). Does this help? Sometimes with zip files you have to have them on your desktop before you can open them(sometimes they won't open from downloads). Can you please try this first?
