This math mystery is a fun way for 2nd graders to practice doing a variety of word problems in a unique way. Kids just start reading at the beginning of the book, solve the problems, and go where the book tells them to go! If they get the wrong answer, they will have a 'stopper' that will tell them to go back to where they were working, and TRY AGAIN!
This mystery includes these skills:
*Adding money
*Time to the nearest 5 minutes
*Sharing
*Adding 3-digit numbers
*Measuring to the 1/2 inch
*Place value
*Appropriate unit of measure for length
*Skip counting by 2s
*Recording info on bar graph
*Adding multiple 2-digit numbers
There are a total of 10 word problems included in this story.
I use these mysteries at my math stations during guided math. I am sure your kids will love this Valentine themed math mystery book as much as mine do! What the next mystery will bring?

Are you using a Mac? You need to make sure that you are not opening the document in 'Preview'...You have to actually open it with the Adobe program. If that doesn't work, you can contact TPT and they can probably help you out.

Your math mysteries look great! Quick question though... if I wanted to differentiate for my 2nd graders, can you tell me if each grade level has the same story with different math skills or different mystery stories for each grade?

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have taught kindergarten and 1st grade...then began to loop with 2nd and 3rd graders. I absolutely loved looping! It was so exciting to watch the growth in those little buggers over a two year period....and talk about getting attached! Those little people, their families and I became very close. We stopped looping a few years ago when we changed principals. I'm trying to talk my new principal into letting me team teach with a friend....we just want to knock out one of the walls!
