Math squares are an engaging, self-correcting, fun activity for students of all grade and ability levels. There are 20 pages of Math Squares in this booklet, that progress from easy to difficult. They may be used in a variety of different ways including:
- Use them as a daily Math warm-up at the beginning of each Math class to build Mental Math skills.
- Use Math Squares for students to practice calculator skills.
- Use as a center activity during Math centers. You can have all children progress from the easy to the difficult, or you can give different sheets to different ability levels in order to ensure that each student is working at the appropriate level.
I have used these for several years with my students, and they never get tired of them. Students love the challenge and the satisfaction of solving them correctly.

Like this design, great idea for warm ups or centers. However, I hesitate to use them until I completely understand. Your directions say the horizontal and vertical rows add up to the same number...I guess I am challenged by this because I just don't see it. Please snap me out of my resource fog! I look forward to hearing back from you so that I can use this with my class.

Hi there! The third vertical row will add up to be the same as the third horizontal row. This number will be in the bottom right corner. Does that make sense? If not, let me know and I will try to explain a bit better :)

Shelley, thank you for your quick response. Yes that makes sense, 3rd column and 3rd row are equivalent when added. I see now that is exactly what your directions say! I am a first year teaching, carrying 9 graduate credits this semester, and beyond overwhelmed; my brain has some trouble processing basics sometime, which is kind of scary, but the way it has been these past few weeks. Certainly looking forward to winter break! Thank you for your great product!
