This is a math problem I created with my friend, who has two little boys. They have a pool, and all these silly ideas about what to fill the pool up with. One boy suggested filling it with BBs. This enables the concept of scientific notation to be introduced to the problem.

I am in my sixth year of teaching. My certification is in Math grades 7-12. I began teaching in an IB/Magnet High School in Rochester, NY where I taught Precalculus, Computer Programming, and Math A. After 2 successful years, my family moved to Florida where we could enjoy the sunshine year round. For the past 4 years, I have been teaching in a suburban High School in Florida. In addition to teaching Geometry, Algebra, and AP Calculus AB, I co-chair the math department. I am currently working on my National Board Certification.
