This 16 slide powerpoint presentation presents the mathematical rules for order of operations. Students are given practice problems and the answers follow so they can correct mistakes. The standard mnemonic device Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally is presented as well.

The problems presented are easy enough for 4th or 5th graders, but the presentation would work equally well as a short refresher for students even in 8th and 9th grades (or perhaps older).

It would take probably 20-40 minutes to go through it depending on whether you were using it to teach a new or fairly new skill or review for older students. Time should be allowed for students to attempt the problems on various slides.

It would be good to pass out a worksheet of additional practice problems for homework.
