Maths Game Addition

This resource includes a teaching plan for teaching children addition including strategies children used and their common misconceptions.

Also includes an example of assessments that can be used.

A game for children to practice their addition skills.

Materials required
1 playing board for each 3-6 children (downloadable)
2 dice - one with digits 1-6, one with 1,2 or 3 dots on each of two sides
20 counters

Method of play:
One child or pair of children rolls the two dice, The next child or pair places them onto their playing board - the digit dice in the upper square, the dot dice in the lower square. The third child or pair uses counters to match the two numbers or counts on from the top number to find the total and reads the whole story using the three numbers generated by the dice.

Children can also write addition sums in books.
