This packet was designed around a specific math skill (Measurement- 1.MD.1, 1.MD.2, 2.MD.1, 2.MD.2, 2.MD.3 & 2.MD.4.), rather than a season or theme. This makes it easy to incorporate at any time during the year.

The games are easy for the teacher to make and easy for the children to play individually or in groups of two/three.

They have been used successfully in my classroom and altered as needed to be more user friendly for my students.

8 math games included:

1. What tool do I need--deciding when to use a scale, measuring tape/ruler, or measuring cup) (2.MD.1)

2. Using a ruler to measure length and width

3. Non-standard measurement with different length units (1.MD.2. and 2.MD.2.)

4. What tool do I need (measuring tape or ruler) (2.MD.1.)

5. Order 3 objects by length, capacity, or weight (1.MD.1. and 2.MD.1.)

6. Comparing two objects to find the difference (2.MD.4.)

7. Measuring real objects with different unit lengths (1.MD.2. and 2.MD.2.)

8. Estimate the length of object before measuring (2.MD.3.)

I love this resource, but I seem to not have the font downloaded that you used. What font did you use and from where? I don't want to print it out until I can read everything.

Thanks.

It is saved as a PDF so you won't need to have the font. It sounds like you might not have the most up-to-date version of Adobe. I would try to update it and see if that solves the problem.

Please let me know of this doesn't work.

When I saw your product, I was very excited. I thought it was a very clever way to teach measurement to my 2nd graders... I still think it is. However, when I used the product I was very disappointed.

I used the activity where the kids compare 3 items and use the < and > symbols. The headings are not correct. It will state, "Sort from greatest to least" and the symbols will be: ____ < ____< _____. This does not make sense.

As I prepared to do another activity, I looked at the papers carefully. They looked fine. I did the one where they measure with a ruler. The items would measure 5 1/2 by 2, and the answers would be 6 by 2. This occurred many times on this paper.

Next I examined the activity with the marshmellow measuring. I used the large marshmellows and the answers were correct. When my students sat down to do the activity, the item would measure 15 small marshmellows, but there would not be a 15 answer box.

These activities are fantastic in theory, but the answers must be correct for a teacher to use them in his/her classroom (especially when we are paying for the resource.) Please let me know when you fix these errors and how I could download the corrected versions.

I'm so sorry about this! I fixing these issues now. You should recieve a message to redownload. As for the ruler page, I'm thinking the measurements might be off due to the printer resizing the pdf when it prints. Make sure that when you print you select "actual size" not "fit to page" in your printer settings. I just printed it in both versions, the "actual size" was the right measurements, whereas the "fix to page" was half an inch smaller---this sounds like what happened to you. If you send your e-mail I will send another product to make up for your troubles! :-)
