Put your students to work solving the Farmers' Market Capacity and Weight word problems! Farmer Wayne and Jane are headed to the market with their farm goods. Unfortunately, they packaged all their fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, and milk in containers of one size. Customers want to buy goods in different sizes and amounts. Farmer Wayne and Jane need your students help to make sure customers get the amount they want to buy. :) (My themed sets of word problem use themes that you can use year-round, no matter the season or holiday around the corner!)
This set contains:
-8 basic capacity conversion task cards
-24 multi-step capacity and weight task cards that specifically address the common core standards below
*Handout list of Farmer Wayne and Jane's goods and how they packaged them
-8 multi-step task cards that require students to use addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division to solve
-answer key for all task cards
-student recording sheets for all task cards
Common Core Alignment:
5th Grade: Convert like measurements within a given measurement system.
5.MD.A.1 Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system, and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
I am in my 8th year of teaching. Most of my teaching experience has been in 5th grade, but I taught 4th grade for two years and looped with those classes. I have a masters in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading and received National Boards Certification in Middle Childhood. Being an elementary teacher, I teach all subject areas and think about ways to engage children in content through collaboration and discussion.
