This curriculum is intended for middle school students addressing media literacy. This curriculum includes, skills, objectives, outcomes, more than 25 activities, essential questions, assessment project ideas, and resources. The curriculum follows the NYS Learning Standards for English Language Arts and Technology. The curriculum is divided up into three units of study (for a one semester, 20 week elective course). To see some of the ideas from this curriculum in action you can visit my class Wiki page at www.mediasavvykids.wikispaces.com. Please note that this unit does not include 25 individual lesson plans but offers a description for a variety of activities that can be completed throughout the unit.

Hi there,

I purchased this unit, media savvy kids, and it looks to be the same as the trial download, Media Literacy Curriculum document. Is this the entire unit, it appears to be more of an overview of a unit than a unit, for instance in 4.1 (image Detectives) it says students will do a 25 question multiple choice quiz, but none is accompanying it. It also says they will receive copies of pictures but none are included. I am thinking that I am misunderstanding something here...

Dear Karen,

Thank you for purchasing the Media Literacy Curriculum. I am sorry for the confusion. The entire unit that you have should be 25 pages with descriptions of various lesson ideas for each unit within the Media Literacy Curriculum. I do not include specific lesson plans for each day, if that is what you are looking for.

The quiz mentioned in 4.1 is available online at http://www.pbs.org/teachers/digital-media-literacy/quiz-yourself/ As for the pictures mentioned in the following activity, those are copyrighted and I cannot sell or share them through Teachers Pay Teachers.

If you are not satisfied with the unit please tell me what you are looking for so that I can help make it up to you. If you like, I would gladly send you 3 different Media Literacy assessment projects with the rubrics that I have done with my Media Literacy students this past year - none that are posted on TpT or my Media Savvy Kids Wikipage.

Regards,
Michele Haiken
