As with Meet the Gingerbread Man, Meet the New Year Baby substitues inital sounds in words for letter B. My students love this fun activity during morning meeting or as a quick warm up to literacy groups. Great phonemic awareness activity.
Uses same pictures as Meet The Gingerbread Man.
Meet the baby new year looks like a poem and/or game.... I think it is very clever and fun. However, I would appreciate some instructions with how to use it.
I'm kinda just making up my own thing, how do you use it?
Sincerely,
homeschool mom
Hi! This is a beginning Phonemic Awareness sound substitution activity. I give each of my students a picture (I cut all the pictures individually). On my chart, I tape the Baby, then each child will come up while saying the poem and say "instead of hamburger, the baby eats a Bamburger." It's silly-but students love the activity and it seems to instill an understanding for changing/substituting a different beginning sound.
Hope this helps. Thanks so much for your purchase.
