This download includes three reader's theater scripts from Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo. Each script is based on an exciting chapter in the book (Chapter 3-the bed is falling, Chapters 6 & 7-Eugenia chases Mercy, Chapter 11-toasts to the hero) These scripts can be read after each chapter to reinforce understanding or read together as a final summarization activity. You might also use them as a model for students to create their own reader's theater. Each script is written for 5 voices, so you can keep the groups static or change them around. Best of all, the exciting part of Mercy can be assigned to a struggling or shy reader in the first two scenes. Written by reading specialist Lorie K. I've been a reading teacher for 10 years and a reading specialist for 6 years. I've taught grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8! I am also mom to two toddlers, so I try to stay current in best practice for literacy instruction in preschool as well.
