Merry Christmas! Here is a Common Core center packet that will get your class in the Christmas spirit! Included in this download are 112 pages of literacy and math centers focused around CCSS for Second Grade. You will receive student task cards (colored and black/white options), ready to use center cards, and student recording sheets for assessment. Each center is coded (by CCSS) for your planning and documentation of teaching the standards. Please check out what all is included:
1. Christmas Cookie Making Words: Teacher models with large letter cards. Students move the small letter tickets to make words and solve the mystery word…“ornament”. They record on an answer sheet. (RF.2.3)
2. Stocking Stuffers Value Match: Students match the values for the equations on the Christmas stocking cards. They record their answers on an answer sheet. (2.NBT.5)
3. Santa Mouse Sort the Sounds: Students sort the words on the Santa Mouse cards by their diphthongs and record them on an answer sheet. (RF.2.3)
4. Reindeer Irregular Plurals: Students read the singular nouns on the reindeer cards. They match the plural forms and record on an answer sheet. (L.2.1)
5. Christmas Carol Clocks: Students read the digital times (to five minutes) on the Christmas Carol cards and match with the digital time tickets. Recording sheet included. (2.MD.7)
6. Gingerbread Measuring: Students measure items around the classroom that fit the descriptions on the Gingerbread Measuring task cards. They use inches and centimeters to compare two different units. (2.MD.2)
7. Frosty Fractions: Students match the fraction circles on the Frosty the Snowman cards with their fractions. They color the circles and write the fractions on an answer sheet. (2.G.3)
8. Santa’s Pets Past Tense Verbs: Students match the present tense verbs with the irregular past tense verb forms. They color and match the words on a recording sheet by coloring matches the same colors. (L.2.1)
