If you have never taught a lesson using a Powerpoint presentation, you have to give it a try! My students always prefer this to a traditional lecture.
This powerpoint is on the metric system and solving problems using dimensional analysis. It consists of 19 slides that are colorful, informative and visually stimulating. Please download my free preview. The preview consists of 6 random slides from the presentation.

1) The International System of Units
2) The seven base units in the SI System
3) Advantages of using the SI system
4) SI Prefixes: giga, mega, kilo, hecto, deca, deci, centi, milli, micro, and nano
5) Units used in measuring length, mass and volume
6) Practice problems to check for understanding
7) The steps to follow to solve a problem using dimensional analysis
8) Practice problems using dimensional analysis
9) Problems on converting between units. These start very easy and get harder. Some examples: Convert km to m, convert km to dm, convert g/cm3 to kg/m3.
This powerpoint was written with a physical science or chemistry class in mind. It can easily be edited. Middle school teachers may simply want to delete a few of the harder problems. Honors teachers can easily include a few extra details or some harder problems..
Also available as a separate purchase is a set of notes to accompany this powerpoint. It includes a complete set of notes for the teacher, and an outline of the notes for the students. Students will use the outline as the powerpoint is being presented and will fill in the notes as the lesson is being taught.
