PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Introduce graphic design to your students with this Vanity License Plate lesson plan.

Everything you need to get started is included in this bundle. You will receive two professionally formatted, user-friendly lesson plans. These lesson plans follow the Madeline Hunter/Elements of Effective Instruction Model. Each lesson plan includes relevant national visual art standards, objectives, resources, supply list, anticipatory set, and lesson procedures (input, guided instruction, independent practice and closure). Interdisciplinary connections and differentiations are also noted where applicable. There is a technology alternative suggested as well.

This is a wonderful lesson for teaching art elements and principles. This lesson works wonderfully with the Middle School student or teachers working with the big idea of identity. It makes social studies or science connections with the suggested background activities.

In addition to the lesson plans, you will receive a student assignment sheet with vocabulary, directions, objectives and rubric. There is a reproducible handout for student use and an optional closure critique activity. The inspiration artwork is included as well as a teacher sample.

Please do not hesitate to contact me before or after the sale with any questions. I’d love to see your results and hear feedback on what you liked or changed about the plans. This lesson has been classroom tested with grades 4-8.

Melissa, you are making me look forward to 6th period again with 7th graders. That particular group has been limited to pencil-and-paper because of inappropriate use of materials ('nuf said.) I have been looking for engaging lessons with those limitations. This more than fits the bill. I'll be introducing it on Monday. (And I just "won" a doorprize at a training yesterday made of license plates. Another teacher and I had been brainstorming how to use them. Once again, you put the framework to that idea!) Thank you!!
On  January 26, 2014Melissa Woodland answered:
Thank you so much! I am glad you are finding lessons that work for and inspire your students. What a great feeling!

Thanks. It's an old favorite. I'm glad others are enjoying it as well. It's actually more relevant now with texting than it was 10 years ago when I first tried it out!
