This alternative version of Midsummer Night's Dream is not intended to detract anything from the original story and follows the same chronology - just handled a little differently by the 'two casts' - one traditional, the other not quite so - no prizes for guessing which represent the dream, and which the nightmare! This alternative cast can be represented as the director wishes - I (Sue Russell)chose 'goths' but any set of 'social undesirables' may be used! This, the first in a collection I am writing, is the 'short' version - a longer version, with a larger cast (including the 'play within a play' starring Pyramus and Thisby)will soon be available. Further detail available by emailing me on sue@plays-r-ussell.com or visiting my website www.plays-r-ussell.com While this particular play does have a twist at the very end, the second in this series, Juliet and Romeo, is different from beginning to end - look out for more!Ideal for summer camp, drama clubs and school performances. Having converted the UK History curriculum into play format - plus a fair amount of the US Social Studies, I am now focusing on Shakespeare - and open to any requests for writing.(See website for this special write upon demand service.)

I taught in the U.K. for 15 years - temporary and permanent positions plus supply/substitute teaching. I taught all year groups at primary/elementary level and have done some substitute teaching since arriving in the USA. My degree was in History so I always particularly enjoyed teaching this subject, and creating class plays/assemblies around what I was teaching in the classroom - whether it be Ancient Egyptians or King Henry VIII and his Six Wives!
