This essay can be used as an assessment tool and as practice for standardized tests. Students are asked to compare and contrast the two types of cell division in a four paragraph essay. They are told step by step how to write each paragraph. Also included is a graphic organizer and a grading rubric. I found that this essay was very effective with students who had difficulty writing essays or who were new to writing essays in science.
