Students sort money into pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Money photographs are included that can be used for sorting and game play. Students throw a die and collect pennies that can be traded for nickels. When 2 nickels are won, they can be traded for a dime. A challenge game is included for those children who are able to trade dimes and nickels for quarters.

Hmmmm........ I am not at all familiar with Canadian coins. I would be glad to adapt it if I could find clip art. I also would want to make sure that my facts were correct. Let me do some research and see what I can find - no promises, but I'll check it out!

I am hoping that this will help the students that are having a hard time grasping the concept of money exchange. Also, it will make a excellent math center for those who have already mastered the skill and are ready for independence.

Money is SO hard for little ones to grasp! I will say, that even though money is not a Common Goal for Kindergarten, I put this game in a math tub in the spring of last year and they did a great job with it! Some of them even got to the challenge of quarters; although most did not. Hope this helps with your money unit!

Thanks for sharing this great game! I wish I had had this a few months ago, but I will be able to use it next year with my 2nd graders. From what I have seen of the Common Core, the kids won't really work with money until 2nd grade, unless the lower grades decide to add it in.
