Monthly read aloud snapshot journals are a way for you and your students to track the read alouds done throughout the year.
After reading, have students make a "snapshot" of the story. They draw a picture and write down the main idea. There is also a place to record the title and to give the story a 1-3 star rating.
Included are 12 monthly journal covers and 3 different types of paper. You choose the one that best suits your students level. Also included is a final page where students write down how many stories were read that month and choose their favorite.
To assemble these books cut the pages in half, decide how many pages you will want to add (depending on how many read alouds you will do in a month). If you tend to do a lot of read alouds, you can use these journals for a specific type of read aloud, or during a certain time of the day.
Staple all the pages together and give to the students!
These journals look oh so cute in color, but would also look great in gray scale. You could have the students color the journals.
I hope you enjoy these journals and find them useful!

I am going on my 4th year teaching at a wonderful charter school in California. I learn more every day, and enjoy creating materials to help my students, and hopefully share them with you all as well!
