This fun powerpoint presentation is to help teach students about the differences between mood and tone and how they are used in literature. Appropriate for grades 6-10. Includes videos to demonstrate how tone and mood are used in movies to lead to a better understanding of how they are used in literature.

This powerpoint is read-only. When you download the file, instead of opening, click "save as", and save it to the location where you want it. Then, when you open, click "read only". You will be able to use the powerpoint normally, but will not be able to make edits. This is done to protect the integrity of the file.

Hi Laurah! I was finally able to convert the videos to a wmv format so that they would play during the Power Point presentation. Thank you!

Charlotte,
I'm glad you were able to figure it out. I was trying, but without knowing the specifics of your machine, I was at a loss. Thanks for letting me know you figured it out! :D

Thanks!

Although I have your video files in the folder, my computer does not recognize the 3gpp extension as a file format. Can you send the videos to me in another format? Thank you!

Hi Charlotte,
I've been working all day to try and figure this out. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you are using a Mac? The videos are in the format most commonly used by Windows Media Player. I am trying to find a way to convert them, but to do that, I would need to know what kind of computer you're using and what kind of video file types you can run.

Thanks,
Laurah J.

I purchased your mood and tone powerpoint. It is telling me that powerpoint can not locate the movie clips. Any suggestion? I can use it without the video clip slides, but I'm guessing it was an excellent lead in example.

The file that you downloaded was a compressed zip folder. The folder contains both the powerpoint and the video files you are asking about. Depending on the version of powerpoint you have, you may have to play them from another program like Windows Media Player.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently an ESOL coach for my district, working with both ESOL and mainstream teachers to help them differentiate and improve the quality of their instruction for English language learners. I currently work in Maryland, but spent several years teaching in North Carolina, and I completed my student teaching in Tennessee as well. During my career, I have worked with students in grades K-8, though most of my attention has been focused on the upper grades, 4-8. I have been invited to Busan, S. Korea, twice to conduct 2 week teacher training seminars on Content Based English Instruction for English language learners, and I am SIOP trained. In addition, I also lead numerous Continuing Professional Development courses, workshops, and focus groups for teachers in my district. In addition to my MS, I also have a BA degree in Spanish and Mass Communications.
