This is a set of 4 activity sheets to accompany the Phonics Library story "Mouse's Crowded House" from the Houghton Mifflin® reading program. New! Revised in February 2011 to include writing skills as tested on state tests and benchmark tests! These are great activities for independent work during universal access time. The sheets for this story cover the following skills: synonyms/antonyms, personal connections, writing skills, syllables, nouns, verbs, and adjectives, subject/predicate, cause/effect, singular and plural nouns, contractions, compound words, sentence types, punctuation and quotation marks, sequencing, main idea, ABC order, -ed sounds, characters, setting, problem, and solution, reality/fantasy, making predictions, generalizations and details, high frequency words, ou/ow sounds, and possessives. In my classroom, the children complete these during independent work time, then we check answers together. They love doing them!
